The juridical clinic began working at the mayor's office in March of
the current year. 15 best students of the 4th and 5th year of study at
Law department, University "Ukraine", consult at the clinic.
According to the rector of the University Georgiy Sevryukov, he had this
idea after he had leant about successful experience of students' work
at the public consultation center of the Charity and Health foundation
in Kherson. The Mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Borys Sylenkov, supported this
idea and gave a room for the clinic in the building of the City Council.
Since March, 97 people already were consulted at the clinic. Gergiy Ivanovich
Sevryukov said, "We choose the students for the clinic based on the
competition. There are many candidates, so next year we plan to open one
more clinic, buy a computer for the present clinic".
The employees of the mayor's office are also happy to receive help from
the students. "Frequently people come to the city executive committee
with such questions that can only be solved through the court. At the
beginning I came to the clinic during the consultations and listened to
what was said, you understand - young students, may be they don't know
everything. But now I am sure that the students are very responsible,
constantly consult with the employees of the committee and their faculty.
Their consultations are free and it is very important for people who can
not afford to pay for the attorney".
