Student Fraternity of Luhansk region is a public non-governmental non-profitable
organization of students and postgraduates of Luhansk region.
The Purpose of Student Fraternity of Luhansk region is protecting of students'
rights and interests, development of their creative, scientific, organization
and political potential.
The main directions of our activities are the following:
1. Legal education of students & high-school pupils and keeping them
informed about their rights and the way how to protect of these rights.
2. Legal defence of students & high-school pupils.
3. Development of students' self-government.
4. Analyzing the level of infringements of human rights in educational
field.
5. Lobbying, asserting students' interests at local authorities.
6. Facilitating students' provision of employment and legal defence of
youth's labor rights.
7. Support of creative youth.
8. Research in the field of the humanities & sociology.
9. Educational & cultural measures for youth.
10. Programs of international students' exchange.
11. Development of students' social activity, drawing youth into social
work.
Creation and registration: Students Fraternity of Luhansk region was
founded on the 10Th of December 1995, registered by the department of
Justice in Luhansk region on the 28Th of May 1996.
Structure, principles, and number: Organization has fixed membership.
The members are united into sections, mostly according to the place of
studying. The sections of Student Fraternity work at 5 colleges of Luhansk
and at the towns of Stakhanov, Severodonetsk, Starobelsk, Rubizhne and
Alchevsk. There are more than 350 fixed members at the organization.
The head of the organization is postgraduate of LSPU Volodymyr Shcherbachenko.
The highest organizational body of Student Fraternity is The Conference.
During the time between Conferences Student Fraternity Council leads the
work of organization. The Council includes the head of organization, executive
secretary, head assistants and heads of sections. All leading positions
at Students fellowship are.
Due to the fact that Student Fraternity has its branches in several towns
of regional subordination and good relationships with a number of local
organization "Prosvita" and local credit unions Student Fraternity
has already embodied its own projects and can keep doing it at the territory
of almost whole Luhansk Region.
Activity: Student Fraternity of Luhansk Region pays the main attention
to protecting of students' rights and interests, democratization of high
school system.
Student Fraternity realizes its activities in the following ways:
1. Legal Education - keeping students and high-school pupils well-informed
about their rights and about the ways how to realize these rights (legal-
educational lectures and meetings with specialists; publishing legal -educational
literature; creating legal-educational articles in printed and electronic
mass media; carrying out of trainings and seminars for Youth-Oriented
NGO, which are interested in legal defence; creation of legal-educational
web library for students - www.stud.org.ua ).
2. Legal Defence (giving legal consultations to students; representing
students' interests to administrations of higher educational establishments,
to the authorities, to courts.
3. Study of infringements in the sphere of human rights (collection and
generalization of facts connected with infringements of human rights in
the sphere of education; working out study report; informing the authorities
and the public about the cases of infringements of human rights in the
sphere of education).
4. Lobbying of students' interests to the authorities and administrations
of higher educational establishments (mass student actions for giving
right of paying fares at reduced rates in municipal and interurban transport
and for raising monthly allowance; action "Ukraine Needs Professional
Army" , etc.).
5. Development of student self-government (collection, generalization
and spreading of positive experience (also international ) in the sphere
of student self-government; publishing reference books; carrying out of
educational trainings for leaders active members of self-government structures;
support of democratically-oriented candidates to self-government structures;
giving consultation help for self-government structures, etc.).
6. Assistance of provision of employment or students and legal defence
of labor rights of the young. Under Student Fraternity of Luhansk Region
there's Student Labor Exchange, which helps students to find temporal
or constant work, to get their first professional experience . Student
Labour Exchange also gives young people consultations according to the
questions of labour law . At the moment the active members of the Exchange
are working at the training course "How Can I Find My First Work?".
7. Support of creative young people (carrying out annual competitions
among young poets, prose-writers and publicists "Sribny Holos/Silvery
Voice" and "Hostre Pero/Sharp Pen"; rewarding of winners;
publishing the best works; organization of student photo-expositions,
of literary gatherings and festivals, etc.).
8. Humane and sociological research (annual youth scientific conferences
about the problems of setting the priorities, construction of models and
identifying strategic targets of national and regional development in
such spheres as interethnic relationships , problems of state- building,
democratization of social life, language problems ; annual summer ethnography
expedition "Youth of Luhansk Region Explores the Ways of Ukrainian
National Republic's Army" etc.).
9. Educational and cultural actions ( master-classes , literary gatherings,
meetings and seminars; organization and public celebrating traditional
Ukrainian holidays , prominent dates and anniversaries; cultural exchange
with students from other cities of Ukraine and foreign countries).
10. Actions dedicated to raising the level of youth's and students' social
activity, drawing youth into active social activities of some definite
community (school, university, town, country) - different actions dedicated
to drawing youth into participating in elections and election- process
control ; organization of thematic discos ("Stop AIDS", "Eco-Session",
"Our Right") , parties, seminars , etc.).
Cooperation with other non-governmental organizations, state bodies,
funds etc:. Student Fraternity has good partner relations with a number
of local youth and "adult" non governmental organizations.
Student Fraternity keeps constant good partner relations with approximately
20 local Luhansk non-governmental organizations, and also with organs
of students' self-government at more than 25 higher educational establishments
of Luhansk region. Among our main local partners are "Luhansk regional
mediation group", "Lawyers' Club", "Prosvita",
Credit community "Svatova Luchka", Luhansk regional committee
of youth organizations. Luhansk branch of Ukrainian Student Union maintains
relations and has great experience in carrying out the common projects
with "European Dialogue"(Lviv) , Kharkiv legal defending group
(Kharkiv) , Lion Society (Lviv) , "Humanitary Collegium" (Kyiv).
Student Fraternity has partner relations with a number of regional organizations
of Ukrainian Student Union, " Molody Rukch" and other NGO of
Mykolayv, Kirovograd, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lutsk, Lviv,Rivne & also youth
legal defending organizations of Russia (Voronij) & of Byelorus' (Minsk,
Mogilov) . Student Fraternity cooperates successfully with a Department
of family and youth affairs, Justice board of Luhansk regional state administration.
Student Fraternity has a big experience of positive cooperation with district
state administrations.

Especially we are interested in:
1. Carrying out combined projects in development of student self-government
(spreading the methods of foreign experience among the higher educational
establishments of Luhansk region & all over Ukraine in the way of
practical study, educational exchanges & training seminars; publishing
educational literature with the materials about common Ukrainian &
foreign experience; carrying out the projects dedicated to the development
of democratic procedures of elections in student self-governmental bodies.
2. Carrying out training & educational programs, practical studies
dedicated to solving legal defence problems for leaders & most active
students of local youth organizations & province ones.
3. Carrying out combined legal educational & legal defending initiatives
in the field of education.
4. Exchange of legal educational experience
5. Creating the Coalition of organizations, which would solve the problems
of infringements of human rights.
6. Carrying out the programs of cultural student exchange (realization
of combined youth summer camps, country-study expeditions, scientific
conferences & round table discussions, seminars,; exchange of young
scientists, literature researchers, people of art.
7. Carrying out projects purposeful for increase of youth social activity.
